More about Universal Funeral Parlour

The Universal Funeral Parlour was opened in 1975, being the first funeral established in HongHum. Subsequently the region had more and more funeral parlous setting up, including government owned Hung Hom Public Funeral Parlour(HHPFP), the funeral parlour under Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (International Funeral Parlour). Among them, owing to the persistent low utilization rate of HHPFP, the operational form changed to government tender since year 2002, with a agreement period of five years. The operator from 2007 to 2012 was Sai Sing Funeral Parlour, which is actually owned by Universal Funeral Parlour.

As there are three funeral parlours in Hong Hum, so Taoist-temples and funeral shops are everywhere in the region, some even operate bone ashes business. Local residents has expressed dissatisfaction over the years that these shops constitute air pollution and traffic pressure on the area, and also bring a psychological impact forth. The relevant issues have been the concern from time to time.
